The Oil Facilities Guard (OFG) urged in a statement Saturday the United Nations and the UN-proposed government to assume their responsibility toward what it called the conspiracy and plotted deal between IS and the so-called General Command of Libyan Army led by Khalifa Haftar.
The spokesman of the OFG, Ali Al-Hassi, said IS retreat from Derna is no more than a plotted deal between Haftar’s forces and IS to create yet another war zone so that they obtain some success on the ground to use it as a hindrance to the accord government.
"The deal is used to manifest that the so-called Libyan army leadership is right in its call for securing the oil fields if IS triumphed over the OFG force on Saturday.” The statement reads.
It also accused the so-called General Command of Libyan Army of securing the retreat of IS from Derna until they reached the oil crescent region without a single interception attempt by any military force, even though the IS retreaters passed through five security checkpoints in Martubah, Al-Hila, Al-Nawar, Al-Mikhili, and 200.
In addition, the statement added that on the way where IS militants were making the escape there were three airbases (Tobruk, Lebrag, and Banina), all of which are controlled by the so-called General Command of Libyan Army.
“An OFG force clashed Saturday at region 52 with IS militias, which came wheeling on more than 100 armed vehicles and with a big number of militants, who all retreated from Derna.” The statement concluded.
