The Head of the High Council of State, Mohammed Takala, discussed with the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, the situation in Derna and the areas of Jabal Al-Akhdar affected by the floods that the region witnessed two weeks ago, in addition to ways to advance the political process.

Takala met with Bathily in Tripoli on Monday, when the latter expressed his warm condolences to the former and the Libyan people for the victims of Derna and the Jabal Akhdar areas as a result of Storm Daniel, which left heavy losses in lives and properties.

The media office of the High Council of State said on its Facebook page that Takala and Bathily discussed during the meeting the steps and mechanisms that the High Council of State was taking to reduce the suffering of the residents of the disaster areas, in addition to the practical steps for the reconstruction of Derna.

The media office added that the meeting also discussed the political situation in Libya, and ways to advance the political process to reach elections and end the transitional stages.

Before his meeting with Takala, Bathily discussed with the Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, the situation in Derna and the affected areas, reviewing the mechanism for coordinating international efforts to address the situation in all the affected areas that were ravaged by floods two weeks ago.
