Leaders of a number of western region brigades called on the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Parliament-designated PM, Fathi Bashagha, not to resort to armed conflict and to engage in political dialogue as a way to resolve the crisis.
The leaders said in a statement that they had agreed with both parties to keep their conflict political, adding that they vowed to Libyans that they would take up their responsibilities and urged UNSMIL to assume accountability for any upcoming armed conflict in Libya.
They said their statement was for opening communication channels among all parties to avoid conflict in Libya, especially in western region and the capital, Tripoli.
The same leaders held last week two separate meetings with Dbeibah in Misrata and Bashagha in Tunisia in an attempt for calm in the country.
Some military movements were reported on Friday as news circulated about convoys with heavy and medium weapons moving out of western region cities heading to Tripoli to facilitate the entry of Bashagha's government to the capital.
