Residents of the coastal cities in western Libya have flocked to the beaches to escape the severe and exceptional heatwave prevailing nowadays.
Temperatures range between 35 and 44 degrees in the shade plus high humidity with a worsening severe electricity crisis that does not allow many people to use air conditioners at home.
For its part, the Libyan Association for Marine & Wildlife Conservation has launched a campaign to water animals and birds, urging people to leave a pot of water on their balconies or gardens to save the birds and cats during this heatwave.
