2196 accidents took place during the first half of the year 2015, killing 1211 people and injuring 1905 others, statistics released by the Ministry of Interior have shown. 3279 vehicles were also damaged, the ministry said.
The statistics showed a decrease by 29% in the number of accidents and casualties compared to the first half of last year, 2014 where 3087 accidents were recorded, resulting in the death of 1556 and injuring 2692 others.
This high number of accidents is attributed to the road condition and the use of vehicles lacking safety conditions, in addition to the absence of traffic rules application on public roads.
