The Embassy of Japan in Libya hosted a reception to celebrate the birthday of the Japanese Emperor on Wednesday, February 19, the first Japanese national day reception in Libya since 2010. 

The reception was attended by Vice President of Presidential Council Abdullah Al-Lafi, President of the High Council of State Mohamed Takala and high-level officials, Ambassadors and distinguished guests. 

In his speech, Japanese Ambassador Shimmura Izuru expressed his sincere appreciation for kind cooperation and assistance extended to him and the Embassy since the reopening of the Embassy in February 2024. Reflecting the great achievements and progresses of Libya-Japan relations during the last one year, he wished to further promote the bilateral relations for the better future of the State of Libya and people of Libya. 

For his part, Vice President of Presidential Council Al-Lafi emphasized Libya’s keenness to strengthen the bilateral relationship in order to serve the common interests of the two friendly nations.
