The Libyan Embassy in Madrid has received 12 stolen and smuggled antiquities from Libya, following a judicial ruling issued by the Spanish court.

This ruling is the first of its kind issued by the Spanish court, and it came after coordination with the Public Prosecution in Libya, according to a statement by the Libyan embassy on its Facebook page.

This step was also carried out in cooperation with the Libyan Antiquities Authority, the team formed to recover smuggled antiquities to Spain, and the follow-up of the Libyan embassy in Madrid and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, according to the embassy.

In its statement, the Libyan embassy in Madrid welcomed this ruling, expressing its hope that all smuggled items from Libya would be recovered.
