The Palestinian Embassy in Libya has expressed gratitude for Libya's support after the latter voted in favour of a resolution granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.

The Assembly overwhelmingly passed the resolution on Saturday, with 143 countries in favour.

Libya was also hailed for joining South Africa's case at the ICJ regarding the situation in Gaza.

The embassy released a statement on Facebook, commending the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Libyan team in The Hague for their support in the trial filed against the Israeli occupying forces before the International Court of Justice.

The statement praised the directives of PC President Mohammed Menfi, Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, and the follow-up of Acting Foreign Minister Taher Al-Baour.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) also praised the PC's decision to join the case brought before the ICJ on the Gaza Genocide Convention.

In a statement Saturday, Hamas said the decision emphasizes "the authentic positions of the fraternal Libyan people towards our people who are being subjected to the worst massacres by the Zionist killing machine."
