The authorities in Tarhuna discovered a new mass grave on Monday, according to the General Authority for Research and Identification of Missing Persons.

The authority said the teams will start exhuming the bodies from the cemetery found on Tarhuna's Salem Bin Ali Road on Tuesday.

The bodies from Monday's exhumation process will add to the growing number of victims uncovered in the agricultural town, which was once under the grip of the Kani family and the militia they created.

Hundreds of corpses have been recovered from the city since the pro-Haftar militia, the "Kani," was made to flee in June 2020 by the Libyan army.

The Association of Tarhuna Victims had called on the legislative, executive, and judicial authorities to take action against the ongoing impunity and lack of accountability of such serious crimes.
