A mobile air traffic control tower arrived in Tripoli on Monday as part of an agreement signed with Techno Sky, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Italian air navigation service provider Enav.
The state-of-the-art mobile ATC tower is to be later installed at Mitiga Airport by Techno Sky engineers to ensure full operation and safety of the airport.
The Libyan Civil Aviation Authority signed on March 30 a multi-million contract with Techno Sky to construct two control towers, one is mobile, at Tripoli-based airport to allow air traffic controllers and technical staff to perform their activity in the best possible conditions.
The total value of the contract was not disclosed, but sources revealed it is worth €5 million and is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.
The contract also covers the training of operational staff to operate the two control towers, the sources added.
