120 successful corneal transplant surgeries, which are about 12% of the Tripoli Eye Hospital's waiting list, were performed in a very short period, the hospital management said.
The hospital indicated that about half of the cases had the cornea transplanted with modern technology and without stitches, as 40 of surgeries took place within three days, coinciding with the arrival of the consultant of refractive corneal surgeries, Prof. Tariq Katamesh to Libya.
Corneal transplant surgeries are part of the program to localize treatment for eye diseases, which is adopted by the Libyan Ministry of Health to ensure that the medical service reaches all the cities of Libya.
