Member of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, on Sunday discussed with the French Ambassador to Libya, Mustafa Mihraje, the initiative of UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily towards achieving elections.

According to the PC media office, the meeting focused on the political impasse and the need to garner local and international support for Bathily's initiative, which the PC considered a crucial step towards creating a conducive environment for holding elections.

The PC emphasized that the initiative aims to provide incentives and guarantees to all political actors to encourage their participation and acceptance of the election results.

The parties also discussed developments in Palestine, as Al-Lafi praised the French position towards the recent Security Council draft resolution regarding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
