The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed on Sunday with the member of the German Parliament, Tobias Bacherle, ways to advance the political process and the outcomes of the work of the 6+6 Committee in drafting electoral laws, in the presence of Member of the House of Representatives, Ayman Saif Al-Nasr, and the German Ambassador to Libya, Michael Ohnmacht.

The Presidential Council said that the meeting also reviewed the latest developments accomplished in the national reconciliation project, emphasizing the need for the participation of all major parties in the political process.

Al-Lafi applauded Germany’s role in finding a political solution to the Libyan crisis through the Berlin process, stressing the importance of holding a comprehensive conference to help pinpoint solutions, legislative and executive recommendations and a national charter that defines the principles that must be adhered to by all parties for the success of the political process and peace-building in Libya. 

The member of the German Parliament stressed his country’s readiness to provide the necessary support for the success of the political process and the national reconciliation project to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people to carry out elections and achieve lasting stability and peace.
