The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed with the Italian ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, developments in the political process in Libya and a number of regional issues of common interest.

The Presidential Council's media office explained that the meeting reviewed the challenges facing the national reconciliation project, and ways to strengthen the efforts to make it successful.

The meeting also discussed developments in the political process in the country, in light of recent events, especially the resignation of the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, as well as a number of other regional issues taking place in the Middle East. Al-Lafi stressed the importance of the Italian role in supporting a peaceful solution to the crisis in Libya. 

Italy's ambassador reaffirmed that his country supports all the Presidential Council's efforts to restore confidence among all political parties, to achieve the aspirations of Libyans, and to preserve the unity and stability of their country.
