Algeria has called on the Libyan parties to actively engage in international efforts aimed at providing the necessary conditions for holding elections as a permanent solution to the crisis.

This came through the Algerian Foreign Minister, Ahmed Attaf’s speech in the African Union High-Level Committee, during which he expressed his optimism that the efforts would be crowned with an agreement by the Libyan parties to hold a national reconciliation conference in the city of Sirte next April.

The Minister stressed that Algeria urges the Libyan parties and encourages them to seize this precious opportunity to restore cohesion between the people in Libya.

He stressed his country's position against foreign interference, calling on foreign parties to lift their hands from Libya to enable African and international efforts to integrate in achieving security and safety in Libya.
