The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, announced on Tuesday the postponement of the Libyan National Reconciliation Conference, which was scheduled to be held on April 28 in the city of Sirte.

Bathily pointed out that after the meeting of the African Union Higher Committee in Brazzaville last February, which was devoted to Libya, it was decided to hold a national reconciliation conference in the city of Sirte on April 28.

During a meeting of the UN Security Council on Tuesday, he expressed his regret for informing the Council of the postponement of this conference to a later date after divisions appeared among the Libyan leaders once again regarding this crucial issue.
