Bathily

The UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily said on X platform on Saturday that he had met with members of the High Council of State, Adel Karmous, Waheed Burshan, Salah Mito and Nizar Kaawan, representing the Consensus Block of the Council.

"We discussed the current political stalemate in Libya and explored ways and means to overcome the deadlock." Bathily explained.

He also encouraged the members to continue seeking consensus within the Council, the House of Representatives, and the broader Libyan political spectrum, including key actors, on implementing electoral laws and forming a unified government to lead Libya toward elections.

Meanwhile, the Arab League announced the invitation of the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, and the Head of the High Council of State, Mohammed Takala, to a meeting on Sunday in order to bring the views of the Libyan parties closer together, and to end Libya's prolonged crisis.

The Arab League pointed out the suffering of Libyans, “who today confide in their politicians to get out of this stifling situation by neutralizing narrow interests and putting the country’s higher interest above any other considerations.”
