The UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily said Wednesday on Twitter that he met in Benghazi with Khalifa Haftar and had a productive discussion on the current political situation, adding that they agreed on the importance of addressing the contentious issues in the draft electoral laws.
The UN envoy also emphasized the importance of the buy-in from all relevant Libyan institutions and key stakeholders to reach a political settlement for successful and inclusive elections in keeping with the aspiration of the Libyan people.
