The British Ambassador to Libya, Frank Baker, signed a funding campaign for NGO Free Fields Foundation aimed at increasing awareness of the dangers of unexploded ordnance, in partnership with the Swiss Embassy.

In a statement issued on Monday, the British Embassy explained that the contract is a confirmation of British support for the efforts of the Libyan government and local and international civil society institutions, aimed at saving civilian lives and restoring stability throughout the country.

Britain has contributed £ 76,000 as part of the British government program to enhance security and stability, the embassy said, confirming that the Swiss government provided an amount equal to this figure to enable the Libyan Free Fields Foundation to carry out activities in the area of mine risk awareness in western Libya in order to reduce the risk of civilian casualties.
