The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) has granted banks operating in Libya the authority to carry out direct foreign transfers for national airlines operating in Libya and national insurance companies, so that they can pay their external obligations.

The CBL called on the airlines to submit the claims of recent original invoices to the beneficiaries abroad, provided that such claims are approved by the concerned airlines, and on their full responsibility.

According to the decision released by the Ministry of Economy, it is also required that insurance companies submit the approval of the Insurance Supervisory Authority on foreign transfers on a case-by-case basis, and on its full responsibility.
