Law enforcement authorities have arrested a customs officer in Benghazi and a member of a criminal organization for smuggling 128 kilograms of cocaine.

According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, an investigation launched by the Anti-Drug and Psychotropic Substances Prosecution led to the apprehension of a suspect linked to the smuggling operation.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to belonging to an organized criminal group that repeatedly smuggled drugs with the assistance of a customs officer. The drugs were concealed in food containers to ease their transport from Ecuador to Benghazi.

The Public Prosecutor's Office emphasized ongoing efforts to apprehend the remaining accomplices involved in this criminal activity.
