Minister of Defense of the Presidential Council, Mahdi Barghathi, said that parliamentary and presidential elections will pave the way for restoring the unity of the country and will eliminate the threat of terrorism.

In an interview with the London-based news website Asharq Al-Awsat, Barghathi said that ISIS has exploited the absence of the state and the army in the south to find themselves a foot in the Libyan Desert, pointing out that leaving the country without a constitution or an electoral process will lead to more terrorism and suffering and external interventions.

On the security issue in Tripoli, Barghathi explained that Tripoli is doing better than other cities in terms of security, clarifying that his disagreement with Fayez Al-Sarraj is on its way to resettlement.
