The spokesperson for the Fezzan Movement, Abu Bakr Sharia, declared that the oil fields will remain closed until the protesters' demands are met.
In a statement to the Arraed news website, Sharia blamed the southern region's representatives in the government and parliament for neglecting their cities and people.
The Movement demanded "equitable treatment" for the south and the presence of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh to negotiate and fulfil all demands.
In a parallel development, the National Oil Corporation announced on Sunday a state of force majeure on the Sharara oil field following protesters' closure. The corporation indicated that the shutdown had halted crude oil supplies from the field to the Zawiya port.
