The Tripoli Criminal Court has sentenced a former director of the Foreign Investment Company to three years in prison on charges of abuse of authority and failing in preserving and protecting public funds.

The Public Prosecutor's Office said in a statement that the court's ruling was based on an investigation into the former official's provision of assistance to others in violation of laws and regulations, one of which amounted to two hundred million Egyptian pounds and the other amounted to five million US dollars.
