The Public Prosecutor's Office has announced the detention of the Chargé d'Affaires of the Libyan Embassy in Portugal and a former financial controller at the Embassy pending investigation on charges of embezzlement of public funds.
The office said that the defendants deliberately disposed of more than 815,000 euros of funds allocated to treat patients and transferred the amount to a bank account of a company in Tunisia without documents or invoices proving receipts of treatment services.
