In the final statement of its 44th session held in the Qatari capital, Doha, the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit affirmed its support for the United Nations’ efforts to reach a political solution in Libya, hold elections, and unify state institutions to achieve the aspirations of the Libyan people.

It also called for an end to interference in its internal affairs, and the withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from the country.

The summit also expressed condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of Libya at the aftermath of the floods that recently swept the city of Derna and its surrounding areas, which caused massive damage.
