Spokesman for Haftar's militia, Ahmed Al-Mismari, has stated that the operation launched by Haftar's forces in the south of the country came in response to the residents' demands to protect them from foreign elements.

“The operations do not target any Libyan component, but rather target the foreign presence and cleanse the south of all foreign gangs and security threats”, Al-Mismari added.

The representative of the Tabu in the Constitution Drafting Assembly, Al-Senussi Hamid, had accused Haftar's militia of committing theft, racist attacks and forced displacement against the Tabu in the Umm Al-Aranib area in southern Libya.
