The member of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ammar Al-Ablag, said that the visit of Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-bek Yevkurov to Al-Rajma in eastern Libya aimed to prepare for supporting the coup in Niger, and for confronting the forces of the ECOWAS: countries backed by France; to restore power to the ousted president Mohamed Bazoum.

Al-Ablag said in a press statement that Russia wanted to support the coup leaders in Niger militarily, logistically and financially through Wagner Group, adding that "Russia also supported the coups in Burkina Faso, Mali and Guinea."

The HoR member explained that the file of Wagner Group was linked to Russian intelligence and was complex, as it served the agenda of Russia in Africa, adding that Khalifa Haftar was the one who introduced Wagner to Libya years ago with Emirati coordination.
