Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani said in a press statement on Friday that the Italian government worked well with Tunisia and Libya to prevent irregular migration departures to Europe.
Tajani added that the Italian government is currently working to conclude other agreements with sub-Saharan African countries to limit migration towards the north of the African continent.
In the same context, the Italian Foreign Minister described the Mattei Plan, which his country’s government will present during the Italy-Africa Conference later this January, as “a great project to support the growth of the African continent,” adding that this plan is not only an aid system, but rather includes promoting development in Africa.
