Italy's Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs Emanuela Del Re said there is a strong commitment from her country to make Libyan sea ports more secure.
Del Re’s statement was made on the sidelines of an EU meeting in Brussels on Monday.
The Italian news agency AKI quoted Del Re as saying that everything is being done to ensure the necessary security conditions and achieve stability in Libya where immigrants are being received.
Earlier, the European Commission said that Libyan ports are not safe and eligible to receive immigrants.
