The new Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Shimura Izuru, arrived in the capital, Tripoli, on Thursday. He is the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Libya after a 10-year absence since 2014.

The ambassador was received by the Director of the Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity, Al-Tahir Hussein, at Mitiga International Airport, according to a statement by the Japanese Embassy on its Facebook page on Friday.

The embassy said that Shimura will lead Japanese diplomacy in Libya to strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields.
