The United Nations (EU) envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, discussed with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abdullah Bin Zayed, methods to support the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU) in performing its duties, essentially the preparation for the elections in December 2021.
Bin Zayed confirmed the UAE’s support for the UN’s efforts in assisting Libya’s stability, sovereignty and unity, according to a statement issued by the UAE Foreign Ministry.
He stressed the significance of supporting the GNU in Libya during its leadership of the transitional period, along with its support of all efforts to achieve security and stability in the country, whilst preparations for elections are underway, which are due to take place in late December of this year.
