The Benghazi Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Agency has announced the seizure of the largest shipment of cocaine in the country’s history, estimated at 128 kilograms, in the city’s port.
The agency said that a report was received from the Saudi Narcotics Control Directorate stating that there was a shipment of bananas coming from Ecuador suspected of containing a quantity of cocaine.
The investigations revealed the collusion of a member of the Customs Authority at the port with one of the suspects. They were arrested and referred to the Customs Authority Directorate to take legal measures against them.
The 128 kilograms of cocaine seized are considered raw materials and after dilution they reach 460 kilograms, and one kilogram of them is sold for about 350,000 Libyan dinars, according to the agency.
