The Libyan Crimes Watch (LCW) said that it received reliable reports indicating that the Internal Security Agency in eastern Libya had carried out a massive arrest campaign in Derna that targeted a number of protesters, in addition to imposing strict security measures that included isolating some areas, restricting the work of journalists, and cutting off the Internet and communications.

The human rights group expressed its deep concern about what appears to be a systematic campaign of repression launched by the security and military services in the city of Derna, in an attempt to intimidate protesters and silence their voices, calling on the authorities in eastern Libya to immediately stop these violations, release the detainees, and respect the right to freedom of opinion, expression, and peaceful demonstration.
