Libya participated in the 24th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) on Tuesday, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the presence of energy ministers, senior officials from the forum's member states and observers.

The meeting discussed the economic, energy, trade, health, environment, geopolitical crises, the escalating risks from pessimistic economic forecasts, and the negative effects on the standard of living of individuals and their impact on poor countries, especially developing countries.

The GECF aims to support the permanent sovereignty of member states over their natural resources and their ability to independently plan, manage and develop sustainable natural gas resources, stressing the need to secure energy supplies and to continue cooperation to protect the basic gas infrastructure.
