The head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, and the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, have stressed the importance of consensus among all parties to the political process on a constitutional basis for elections.

This came during their phone call, during which they discussed the latest developments in the political situation in Libya, reviewing local and international efforts to resolve the political crisis in the country, and to provide support to the new UN envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, according to the Presidential Council media office.

For his part, Norland praised the efforts of the Presidential Council in bringing together the political parties through the national reconciliation project, and its cooperation with international efforts and countries supporting the stability of Libya, in order to find a solution to the political crisis.
