Minister of Economy and Trade of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Hawij, has assigned municipal guard, labour inspection and all law enforcement agencies to take legal measures to enforce a decision issued late last year to regulate the presence of foreign workers.

The decision No. 508 / 2022 prohibits foreigners from practicing buying and selling operations directly or on behalf of others, renting bakeries and shops for themselves, and carrying out real estate brokerage activities.

Al-Hawaij urged the law enforcement agencies and the competent authorities ‘to enforce the decision, and take administrative and legal measures to implement it, to achieve market stability, protect food security in particular, and national security in general.’
