Both civil and military entities in the city of Murzuq, announced on Saturday, their total rejection of the announced military coup by Haftar, stressing that they would not accept the return to totalitarian rule in the country.
This announcement came in two separate statements, one by the Military Council of Murzuq and the second from the Association of the People of the City, in which they each reaffirmed their support and recognition of the Government of National Accord.
The Military Council called on the ‘Sons of the South’, those who took up arms with Haftar’s militia, to return to their homes and discontinue fighting their brothers, in what they described as “an unjust war, led by an unhinged fanatic for power” according to the statement.
