The Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the pretrial detention of nine individuals accused of involvement in drug smuggling networks operating across neighbouring countries, the Office announced on Sunday.

Following an investigation, prosecutors found evidence linking the suspects to organized crime groups engaged in narcotics and psychotropic substance trafficking.

According to the Attorney General, the accused operated from Hamada al-Hamra, using it as a hub to import drugs before transporting them to the cities of Darj, Ubari, and Zawiya for distribution.

Authorities say the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to combat transnational crime and disrupt drug smuggling routes in the region.
