The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has expressed its concern about the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Libya and the numerous human rights violations committed since 2011.

In a statement, PACE expressed its readiness to assist the Libyan authorities in unifying the state institutions, saying that it would consider with interest all requests for cooperation provided by Libya, particularly on the referendum and election issues.

It also added that it stands ready to develop standers for measuring respect for the human rights of migrants in Libya and in Libyan territorial waters on the basis of relevant international conventions.
