Faisal Fakhri

Faisal Fakhri, a prominent sports journalist and historian, passed away on Saturday in Benghazi at the age of 78.

Born in Derna in 1946, Fakhri embarked on a journey that would leave an indelible mark on Libyan sports journalism and history. His career began in 1964 when he entered the media field with a passion for sports that would define his life's work.

Fakhri's voice became synonymous with sports commentary and presentation in Libya. For decades, he brought the thrill of sports to countless fans, earning a reputation as one of the foremost commentators of his time.

His dedication went beyond the microphone; he was a prolific author and a trailblazer in sports documentation and archiving. He wrote extensively about Libyan sports events and devoted himself to developing the sports library, ensuring that significant moments were meticulously recorded.
