The US Embassy in Libya, through USAID, celebrated the equipping of the Sabha Airport in the presence of Libyan municipal government representatives, civil society representatives, and community leaders.
"The United States provided significant ground equipment to load and unload baggage, vehicles to transport passengers, and an ambulance to the Sabha Airport to improve operations to better connect Libya’s southern region to the rest of the country," the embassy tweeted on Wednesday.
It said the step comes within the framework of the 10-year US Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability in Libya.
"Southern Libya is the focal point of initial sequenced efforts under Promote Stability, which will incrementally build toward progress throughout Libya," the embassy added.
