The Security Council is expected to renew in October the mandate of the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), which expires on 31 October, Security Council Report website said on Monday.

The website added that the Security Council was also expected to renew the authorisation of measures in resolution 2146 of 19 March 2014 related to the illicit export of petroleum from Libya, as the current authorisation would expires on 30 October.

It indicated that the Security Council would hold its bimonthly briefing on the situation in Libya and Special Representative and Head of UNSMIL Abdoulaye Bathily would brief the Council on recent political, security, and humanitarian developments in the country.
