Residents in the Green Mountain region and Benghazi in east Libya felt a slight tremor, according to activists on social media.

Roay for Amateur Astronomers Organization has explained that the shake felt by the inhabitants of the Green Mountain and the city of Benghazi was the result of an earthquake that hit the western coast of the Greek island of Crete, with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale.

"Areas of Ras Al Hilal, Karsa, and Derna city, are the closest points in Libya to the earthquake, with a distance of 320 to 325 kilometers, however, residents of Benghazi said they had also felt the shake despite the city is about 485 kilometers away," the organization stated.
