The Council of Notables of Southeast of Libya has announced the closure of oil fields in the southeast and Man-made River water sources in Tazirbu and Sarir until former Finance Minister, Faraj Boumtari is released.

In a statement, the council held the Head of Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, responsible for Boumtari's safety.

The Council called on the parties that kidnapped Boumtari, the candidate for the position of governor of Central Bank of Libya, during his visit to the capital, Tripoli, to release him.

It accused the governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir,  Dbeibah’s government, and rogue militia supporting them of being responsible for his “kidnapping.”
