The Turkish Prime Minister, Binali Yildirim, has described the rescue of the three Turkish engineers who were kidnapped in the southern city of Ubari as a difficult and precise operation.

Yildirim said in statements quoted by Anadolu Agency that the three engineers were freed from their kidnappers through an intensive operation without disclosing the precise details.

He also confirmed their return to their families. The three Turks were released on Saturday evening without any officials disclosing how this was achieved.

The identity of the kidnappers, their demands and whether a ransom was paid or a military operation was carried out are yet to be known.
