The UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, said he had briefed the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on the results of his visits to Sudan, Chad and Niger to discuss the removal of foreign mercenaries and fighters from Libya.

Bathily said on Twitter that Dbeibah reaffirmed his support for the UN’s efforts in the security track and for holding free and fair elections this year in Libya.

"I stressed that elections are what the Libyan people have asked for, and all Libyan leaders should fulfil their commitments to deliver them in 2023." Bathily added in the meeting that was attended by Foreign Minister Najla Al-Mangoush among other ministers.
