The United Nations Envoy to Libya, Hana Tetteh, has met with China’s chargé d’affaires to Libya, Liu Jian, in Tunisia to discuss the latest political developments in Libya.
In a statement, the UN mission said Tetteh briefed the Chinese diplomat on the progress of political consultations, particularly the work of the advisory committee. She reaffirmed the UN’s commitment to coordinating with Libyan, regional, and international stakeholders to secure a consensus that could move the political process forward.
Meanwhile, Liu reiterated Beijing’s continued support for the UN mission and the special representative’s efforts to break Libya’s prolonged political deadlock.
The meeting comes amid ongoing efforts to revive Libya’s stalled transition, as international actors seek to mediate between rival factions and push for long-delayed elections.
