The head of the General Union of University and Higher Institutes Employees in Libya Issam Ouedan said that several universities in different regions of Libya including the east, west and south are witnessing a general strike and a disruption of classes since a week ago.

Ouedan explained Saturday via a press statement that they have addressed all governments in the country in respect to the increase of salaries and the implementation of the health insurance system, in addition to other demands related to recruitment controls, but they encountered no response.
