Human Rights and Rule of Law Section of United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has organized a workshop on the protection of Libyan human rights defenders, stressing its support for women and human rights defenders in developing a protection strategy.
The UN mission said in a tweet that the participants of the recently held workshop, emphasized that a thriving civil society is a force for positive change, emphasizing also the need to support and encourage the valuable work of civil society organizations and human rights defenders rather than hinder it.
It quoted the participants during the workshop as confirming that empowering and inclusive environments, whether online or offline, are a necessity for the safety and activism of women and human rights defenders in Libya.
